Welcome to “Mastering Wax Modelling to Silver Casting”: For individuals passionate about jewelry craftsmanship and eager to explore the art of transforming wax into silver pieces. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artisan, this course is designed to deepen your understanding of wax modelling, silver casting, and finishing techniques.
Kursinnehåll
Day 1: Introduction to Wax Modelling
Overview of Lost Wax Casting: History and Applications – Introduction to Different Types of Waxes and Their Properties Basic Tools and Equipment for Wax Modelling – Creating Basic Shapes and Forms
Day 2: Advanced Wax Modelling Techniques
Adding Details and Texture – Techniques for Precision Modelling – Troubleshooting Common Challenges in Wax Modelling
Day 3: Importance of proper preparation of the casting tree – Review of Participants’ Wax Models
Techniques for attaching wax models to a casting tree – Constructing the Tree for Casting.
Day 4: Casting Preparation
Introduction to plaster investment materials and techniques – Participants prepare investment for their own wax models on flasks – Kiln Firing preparation – Explanation of the kiln firing process, temperature control and timing
Loading the Kiln – Instructor explains proper positioning and safety measures – Participants place their cylinders into the kiln
Day 5: Casting with the Vacuum Casting Machine
Preparing the Vacuum Casting Machine – Explanation of the components and functions of the vacuum casting machine Setting up the machine for casting – Overview of the casting process – Importance of safety measures during casting – Silver Melting and Pouring Techniques – Hands-On Casting Practice – De-molding and Cleaning of the Casted Piece – Finishing Q&A and Course Conclusion – Final questions and clarifications

Vad behöver du förbereda?
Silver to cast with if you have, otherwise there will be silver to purchase in KKV (40 kr / g).
Each day includes breaks for rest and refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring their own designs for personalized guidance and feedback throughout the course.
Förkunskaper
The course is designed to accommodate both beginners and those with some experience in jewelry making. The course is part of the jewelry department introduction courses.

SERENA HOLM
Hailing from the enchanting city of Naples, Italy, Serena Holm embarked on her artistic odyssey by delving into Art History at the University of Bologna. Her insatiable curiosity and profound appreciation for the arts and craft led her to pursue a specialization in Jewelry Art at HDK – University of Gothenburg and Pedagogy at the University of Karlstad.
MOE OMARI
Born in the heart of Abu Dhabi, Emirates, Mohammad Moe Omari’s journey into the world of design commenced with his pursuit of Industrial Design at Yarmouk University. Fuelled by a fascination for the alchemy of metals, he further honed his skills in Metal Art at HDK – University of Gothenburg.
