This course builds on the basic silversmithing skills and focuses on creating surface textures and more expressive forms. Participants will explore different methods to give metal unique character and visual depth while producing a finished jewelry piece.

Participants will learn techniques for creating texture on silver surfaces, testing different tools or material to change the surface, prepare the material depends on requirement, and how surface treatment can influence the visual expression of jewelry, and how to integrate texture into the design of a wearable piece. Participants will forsten their technique of sawing, filing and soldering. Each participant will bring home a textured silver jewelry piece, such as a ring or small pendant, featuring their own surface design. And able to make simple piece. The course will be hold in English.

OM KURSLEDAREN:

Shiyao Sun is a jewelry and craft artist. She studied at HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, and Alchimia Contemporary Jewelry School in Florence, focusing on jewelry and body-related practices. She has over ten years of jewelry making and is experienced in silversmithing and material experiment.
